Authorities: Nothing dangerous in white powder
ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — Investigators say early tests show that there was nothing dangerous in white powder found inside a shipment of rubber products being shipped to Michelin headquarters in South Carolina.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reports (http://bit.ly/K4dENM ) that investigators say the powder tested positive for high levels of protein.
Anderson County sheriff’s deputies say the powder was found Wednesday by a worker at a storage facility for Michelin North America. It was inside one of two envelopes found in the package. The second envelope wasn’t opened and was sent directly to a lab in Columbia to be tested.
Identifying the substance could take weeks.
