Coastal meeting focuses on SC emergencies

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Charleston is hosting a conference designed to teach officials on how to better deal with emergencies.

The city is hosting the fourth annual Emergency Management Coordination Committee Conference on Thursday.

The event brings together local, state and federal emergency managers from South Carolina and Georgia to share experiences and exchange ideas for being able to respond to emergencies.

The conference includes representatives from the Department of Defense, the U.S. Coast Guard and municipal police and fire departments as well as emergency managers.
