Tuition increase at Citadel proposed

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Cadets attending South Carolina’s military college would pay more under a tuition increase proposed by a committee of the college’s Board of Visitors.

Cadets from South Carolina would pay about $300 more a year. Tuition would be about $10,500. Cadets from out of state would pay about $1,700 more a year. Tuition for those cadets would be about $28,800. Tuition per credit hour for graduate students would also increase.

The increase must be approved by the Board of Visitors which meets next week.

School officials say the college has tightened its belt in recent years and needs the money to maintain its programs and make facility improvements.
