Authorities say 50-year-old James Ware, of Greenville, S.C., couldn’t swim to safety after a canoe capsized around 4 p.m. Saturday on Lake Osceola. His fiance did make it to safety, but investigators say she was too distraught to give them much information about the incident. The did not release her name.

Investigators say Ware was not wearing a life jacket.
