Garden City man gets 9 months for ex-wife’s death

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — A 60-year-old Garden City Beach man has been sentenced to nine months in prison in the shooting death of his former wife.

Gary Allan Gillespie pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter this week in Conway.

Circuit Judge Larry Hyman sentenced Gillespie for the death of 53-year-old Cheryl Gillespie in March.

A police report says Gary Gillespie was attacking someone else on March 20 when the gun discharged, hitting Cheryl Gillespie. She died at the scene.
