Haley to SC coast to talk hurricane preparedness

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Gov. Nikki Haley is visiting the South Carolina coast to discuss hurricane preparation.

Haley is scheduled to talk with emergency officials and speak with reporters in Conway, North Charleston and Beaufort on Friday. The trip was rescheduled from earlier in the week.

The Atlantic hurricane season is only a week old, but it’s already affected residents of South Carolina.

Storm advisories affecting sections of the South Carolina coast were posted last month both for Tropical Storms Alberto and Beryl.

Officials say rains form Beryl helped ease the drought in South Carolina.
