Feds: 2 western NY strip clubs bilked dancers

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Federal officials are taking the owners of two Buffalo-area strip clubs to court over wages the businesses allegedly failed to pay hundreds of dancers over the past six years.

The Niagara Gazette reports that (http://bit.ly/LQasBc ) says a federal class action lawsuit has been brought against Mustang Sally’s Spirits and Grill Inc., owner of Tiffany’s Cabaret in Tonawanda and Cheektowaga. A third location in Myrtle Beach, S.C., has also been implicated in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit says the clubs’ owner violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

A lawyer representing at least one of the dancers says she worked overtime without pay and was paid less than minimum wage while being required to share her tips with managers and bouncers.

A number for the owner wasn’t available Tuesday morning.
