New Marine license plate to help Bluffton group
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — A Bluffton organization that sends care packages to Marines overseas will benefit from a new license plate authorized by South Carolina lawmakers.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reported (http://bit.ly/Mv12NK ) that a nonprofit group known as the Moss Creek Marines will receive some of the proceeds from the new license plate.
Manning Sen. John Land wrote the bill authorizing the Marine Corps plate and six other new tags. The bill has been sent to Gov. Nikki Haley for her signature.
The new tags would cost an extra $30 each.
The care packages the group sends include everything from video game consoles to beef jerky. The group has sent packages to more than 60 units since 2007.
