Loris man gets 30 years in Little River death

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — A Loris man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the death of a Little River man who bled to death after his throat was cut in an Horry County parking lot.

John Lee Monroe Scott was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to murder.

Authorities say Scott slashed 51-year-old Johnny Ray Caulder’s throat and stole his cigarettes after an argument in a parking lot in November 2010.

Another man has been charged with accessory after the fact of murder. Authorities say Jeffrey Michael Landacre knew Caulder had been assaulted and was also aware of plans to kill the man but didn’t do anything to stop his death.
