Colleton sheriff’s deputy charged with obstruction
WALTERBORO, S.C. (AP) — The FBI says a Colleton County sheriff’s lieutenant has been charged with obstruction of justice and lying on affidavits.
The agency said Fred Allen Inabinett was arrested Friday.
Sheriff George Malone says Inabinett has been placed on administrative leave.
FBI officials say Inabinett provided information to a suspected drug trafficker. An affidavit says the man under FBI investigation contacted Inabinett about a car that was following him last November. The FBI says two agents were in the car following the suspect.
Authorities say Inabinett determined the vehicle belonged to law enforcement and later told that to the suspect.
It was not clear if Inabinett has a lawyer.
