Deputies: Man stabbed wife at SC Bible study
GREER, S.C. (AP) — A woman has been hospitalized after Greenville County deputies say her husband stabbed her during a Bible study meeting.
Deputies say they arrived at the Kingdom Hall in Greer on Thursday afternoon and found several congregation members in the sanctuary holding 46-year-old Leonard Edwards Jr. Edwards’ wife was on the floor with a stab wound to the back.
Witnesses told authorities that Leonard Edwards arrived while his wife was attending a Bible study session. The two went outside briefly, but then she ran back inside. Witnesses said she was followed by Edwards, who had a knife and stabbed her in the back.
Edwards was being held in jail Friday on attempted murder and weapons charges. It wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
