Columbia offering tips on homeownership

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — It’s National Homeownership Month, and the city of Columbia is offering some tips on how to keep home improvement under control.

The City of Columbia Community Development Department on Saturday is hosting “the OMG of Homeownership.” That stands for “Owning, Maintaining and Gardening.”

Organizers say they hope the free event will help inform current homeowners and people looking to buy their first home.

The event features hands-on instruction and advice on decorating on a budget, landscaping and home improvement. There are also small class sessions on crime prevention.
