Body found in rubble of burned home in Greenville
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a man is charged with murder after a body was found in the rubble of a burning home in Greenville County.
Investigators said the fire was reported just after 12 a.m. Monday, and firefighters requested an arson and a homicide investigator a few hours later.
A neighbor says he heard gunshots and ran to a window, where he saw the home on fire and called 911.
Deputies say 48-year-old Gregory McCarson was arrested around 10 a.m. Monday after he crashed the victim’s car and tried to run away. Investigators say the suspect and victim argued before the killing.
McCarson was being held without bail, and it wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
The name of the victim has not been released.
