Not many races on Tuesday’s runoff ballot in SC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Some South Carolina voters head back to the polls for primary runoffs with only a few major races on the ballot.

Republicans in the state’s new 7th congressional district will choose between Horry County Council Chairman Tom Rice and former Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer on Tuesday.

There also is a hastily put together runoff for Democrats between Coastal Carolina University professor Gloria Bromell Tinubu and Horry County lawyer Preston Brittain. The district stretches from Florence to Myrtle Beach.

Bromell Tinubu and Bauer led the voting June 12.

Just three state Legislative races have runoffs, and only a scattering of county races needed another round of voting to end a strange primary season where more action seemed to take place in the courts than the voting booths.
