SC metal maker expands in Sumter, adds 60 jobs

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A metal component maker is expanding its plant in Sumter and will add 60 new jobs.

South Carolina Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt said Thursday that Porter’s Fabrications will spend $2.5 million to increase its capacity in the Sumter plant it opened about eight years ago.

Company CEO Charles Saleh says the firm has seen increases in demand for its metal components and the safes it makes for automated teller machines.
