Sheriff: dropped iPad leads to 2 men, stolen trove

BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) — Two men have been charged with receiving stolen goods after Beaufort County Sheriff deputies found a trove of stolen property in their Bluffton hotel room.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head (http://bit.ly/GRGJKx ) reported Wednesday that 36-year-old Anthony Wayne Sturm and 34-year-old Christopher Chad Sayne also have been charged with three counts of breaking into vehicles.

The sheriff’s office says a caller alerted deputies after his iPad was stolen from his car. When the caller saw a man drop the same iPad while walking through a hotel parking lot, the caller said he handed it back to the man and alerted officials.

Deputies got a search warrant and found goods stolen from Tennessee and South Carolina in the men’s room.

It isn’t immediately clear whether the men have attorneys.
