Hanahan Man Dies in Train Accident
HANAHAN, S.C. (AP) _ A Hanahan man has died after he drove into the path of an oncoming train. Officials say the wreck happened around 6 a.m. Monday at a double-track crossing behind Trident Technical College in Hanahan. Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury says the victim was 56-year-old Daniel Martin Perry. Salisbury says Perry died from trauma. Police say a freight train was stopped near the street and the crossing guard arms were down when Perry drove around the arms and was struck by an Amtrak train on the second set of tracks. No other injuries were reported.
