Cops investigate dogs bound in tape in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) — Georgetown County deputies say they have found a dead dog whose legs were bound with tape not far from where firefighters rescued a tied up dog who was tossed into a canal.

Investigators said fishermen smelled a foul odor Thursday near a canal by the International Paper plant and found two dead dogs.

Deputies say it was obvious one dog had been tied up. The second dog was under debris with a rope around its neck, and officials couldn’t tell if it was tied up also. A veterinarian will examine the dogs to see how they died.

The dead dogs were found near the canal where firefighters rescued a dog Tuesday who had been thrown in the water with its legs taped together and its muzzle taped shut.
