Governor Nikki Haley Touts Pension Reform
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Governor Nikki Haley has only good things to say about the state’s pension system now that it’s been newly reformed. The law limits employees’ ability to officially retire then return to work and collect two checks. For those hired after July 1, it also changes how benefits are calculated and how long they must work. Haley cited a report by Moody’s Investors Service which says the reform measures will reduce the state’s long-term uninsured liability by $2 billion.
