SC Farmers Market promoting peaches

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — It’s peach season, and South Carolina is celebrating the fuzzy fruit.

The South Carolina State Farmers Market is celebrating Peach Market Day on Saturday. Officials from the South Carolina Peach Council are hosting a variety of peachy activities and handing out a free peach to visitors.

Representatives will be on hand to answer questions about peaches, including how to store them and the best ways to serve them.

The Agriculture Department says South Carolina grows more than 40 varieties of peaches and is the No. 2 peach producer in the country.
