10 years on, mother holds vigil for slain son

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — The mother of a slain Spartanburg County man shot to death 10 years ago is holding a prayer vigil in his memory.

Marcie Davis is having a prayer vigil and balloon release at her home on Monday. Deputies say Davis hopes the event will generate new leads in the death of her son, 23-year-old Zachary Cunard.

Cunard had been married for about two weeks when his wife found him and another man, 32-year-old Michael McGraw, shot to death in the couple’s Campobello home. Cunard’s wife was pregnant, and deputies say the boy will be 10 years old this year.

Deputies said at the time the shooting appeared to be drug-related. No arrests have been made.
