Couple’s home is a 45-foot cutter sailboat
DELCAMBRE, La. (AP) — The Port of Delcambre’s (DEL-kumz) new marketing manager brought her home to the port.
Katherine Kenworthy and her husband, Jim, live on a 45-foot cutter sailboat called Dream Away.
The Kenworthys are both 68 years old, and have been married for 43 years. They were high school sweethearts in Tampa, Fla.
The Daily Iberian (http://bit.ly/MwG91A ) reports that they were sailing to Delcambre (DEL-kum) from Charleston, S.C., for Jim Kenworthy’s job with a crewboat company when they got word that Kenworthy was being laid off.
Katherine Kenworthy says she was retired until port director Wendell Verret inspired her with his vision of Delcambre.
Her projects will include promoting the port’s burgeoning seafood market, promoting a new farmers market, and developing the port for traveling boaters known as “cruisers.”
