Shootout at SC Waffle House leaves 1 dead, 1 hurt

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Charleston County officials have released the name of a man shot to death during a shootout at a restaurant.

The Charleston County coroner’s office said 19-year-old Dontaye Reed of Ravenel died in the shooting.

Police say a gunman outside a restaurant traded shots with people inside the Waffle House restaurant around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady says deputies found two men, one dead and the other suffering life-threatening injuries. The wounded man was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital. His name has not been released.

A third person suffered minor injuries from a fall inside the restaurant.
