Coroner: Greenville woman was beaten to death

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a woman had been beaten to death about a week before her body was discovered in her Greenville home.

Deputy Greenville County Coroner Tony Segars says 59-year-old Ramona Hatton died sometime around July 9.

Deputies found Hatton’s body on the floor of her home Sunday afternoon after a neighbor called to report that the woman had not been seen in days.

The door to Hatton’s home was slightly ajar, and deputies say her body was badly decomposed.

Authorities are still investigating.
