2 arrested in killing of bound and gagged man

MARION, S.C. (AP) — Marion County deputies say two men have been arrested in the killing of a 71-year-old man who was gagged with his hands and ankles bound together.

Authorities said 32-year-old Marco Sanders was arrested in New York on Monday, while 19-year-old Tyrell Woods turned himself in Tuesday in Marion. Both men are charged with murder.

Investigators said deputies sent to Sam Rowell’s home on July 4 to check on a possible home invasion found him dead with his ankles taped together, and his hands taped behind his back. Several shell casings were found on the floor.

Deputies haven’t released a motive for the killing.

It wasn’t clear if either suspect had an attorney.
