3 arrested in death of 71-year-old Hanahan man

HANAHAN, S.C. (AP) — Police have arrested three people in the death of a 71-year-old Hanahan man earlier this week.

Police Lt. Michael Fowler says 39-year-old Robert Randolph Clark, 24-year-old Robert Andrew McFadden and 24-year-old Brittany Lynn Swanger are charged with murder.

Roy Bennett was found dead at his home Sunday afternoon. Police think he was killed in a robbery Sunday morning.

Fowler says the suspects were living in area motels.

They are being held in the Berkeley County jail. It was not clear if they have lawyers yet.

Fowler says McFadden was seen on a store’s surveillance video abandoning Bennett’s pickup truck.

An autopsy Monday did not indicate a cause of death. Police say a neighbor found Bennett’s body with duct tape around his arms and legs and a bag over his head.
