Beaufort cops giving computers to kids’ program

BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) — A nonprofit organization operating in South Carolina has a chance to use computers seized during an investigation into illegal gambling activity.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says five desktop computers are being donated Friday to a group called AMIKids.

Officials say AMIKids is a national organization that gives training to at-risk youth. The group also partners with local communities to help thousands of troubled juveniles develop into accountable, responsible and productive citizens.

AMIKids operates a residential program in Beaufort County. The sheriff’s office says it had the computers cleaned and installed with new operating systems.
