SC governor’s Savannah River Basin panel meets

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — A committee whose goal is to identify and discuss issues related to the water resources of the Savannah River Basin is meeting on Hilton Head Island.

The South Carolina Governor’s Savannah River Committee is meeting Monday in the Hilton Head Public Service District No. 1 Office.

Members of the committee include Department of Health and Environmental Control Director Catherine Templeton and Col. Alvin Taylor of the Department of Natural Resources.

The panel created in 2005 makes recommendations about water supply, flood control and recreation. The committee also discusses items of mutual interest with its counterpart from Georgia.
