Two arrested in deadly hit and run near airport

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Two people are behind bars in connection with a fatal hit and run near the airport Monday. Investigators with the Highway Patrol says 19-year-old Sheldon Dubois is charged with reckless homicide and leaving the scene involving death. Police say he was driving with a suspended license. The charges follow a deadly four car accident in front of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport on Highway 302. Troopers say Sharon Ellsworth is charged with allowing Dubois to drive her car even though she knew his license was suspended. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in Monday’s accident. Coroner Harry Harman says Ronald Mitchell of Lexington was killed when the pick-up truck, reportedly driven by Sheldon Dubois, lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic, striking Mitchell’s car and two others. Investigators say Mitchell was not wearing a seat belt.
