Drake publisher of Herald-Journal of Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — A regional sales director for Halifax Media Group has been named as publisher of the Herald-Journal of Spartanburg (http://bit.ly/NPsvvb).

Kevin Drake was chosen by the parent company as part of an administrative restructuring.

Drake is former publisher of The Times-News of Hendersonville, N.C., and has been in Spartanburg since he became head of sales for Halifax’s Western Carolinas Cluster.

He is 43 and takes over Aug. 1.

Drake replaces Roger Quinn, who will be regional publisher of the company’s dozen newspapers in California, Florida and Louisiana. Quinn will work from Panama City, Fla.

Drake says Spartanburg has an award-winning team that produces products in print and multiple digital platforms.

He will work for Rick Martin, regional publisher of Halifax’s operations covering North and South Carolina. Martin will work from Gastonia, N.C.
