Global trade prospects subject of Charleston talks

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Business leaders from the South Carolina Lowcountry are getting a chance to hear about the growth of global trade.

The World Trade Center-Charleston is holding an event on Wednesday in North Charleston.

The keynote speaker is Phillip Poland, the director of export control and trade integrity for D-H-L Express, the worldwide shipping company.

Also speaking is Jim Newsome, the president and CEO of the South Carolina State Ports Authority. He is scheduled to speak about trade and growth opportunities that are available through the Port of Charleston.
