Twin Sisters Give Birth on the Same Day
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “So I called my Mom and told her and she was just like oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I knew it, I knew it,” says Shaakira White. Meet Zaakira Mitchell and Shaakira White, twin sisters turned twin mommies. “People was like I bet ya’ll gone have babies on the same day, but you never know,” says Zaakira Mitchell. It all started last Thanksgiving when Shaakira had suspicions she was pregnant. “Cause I was packing my plate and one of my aunts was like, are you eating for two and so I realized that I skipped the girly girl,” says Mitchell. Three weeks later, even more news. “She was like um, “I haven’t started my girly girl.” And I was like, “What do you mean?” I was like, “Shay you can’t be pregnant.” I was like, “Cause I just found out I was pregnant,” says Mitchell But it didn’t stop there. “I found out I was having twins at ten weeks,” says White. So there they were, twins pregnant at the same time. The two also shared one common craving. “Pickled eggs,” says White. But they didn’t expect to share the same delivery dates. Shaakira was due July 26, 2012 and Zaakira, August 16, 2012. But Tuesday morning, the three bundles of joy decided they were ready to meet the world. “I was shocked,” says White. And it get’s even better, the mom’s have the same OB/GYN. “I just thought this is not really believable, this can’t be happening,” says Dr. James Ferguson, OB/GYN. Dr. Ferguson says this is definitely one for the books. “I’ve never actually seen just twins pregnant at the same time, more or less delivering on the same day,” says Dr. Ferguson. But he says the deliveries went well. However, the mom’s stories are a tad bit different. “I was supposed to get my c-section done at 5:30 p.m., they was supposed to start at 5:30 p.m. and she was still in there, trying to push but she wasn’t really pushing,” says White. In the end, all was well as Kadin Mitchell, Landon Boyd and London Boyd all came into the world. The two boys, Kadin and Landon were just one hour and ten minutes apart followed by little London, just one minute behind twin brother Landon. “She’s my best friend so for us to share this, it was really special and it was really emotional,” says Mitchell.
