Timmonsville man guilty of killing brother-in-law

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — A Timmonsville man has pleaded guilty to killing his brother-in-law last year.

The Morning News of Florence reported (http://bit.ly/MOgDrl) that 26-year-old Carlynias Marquis Pettigrew pleaded guilty Thursday to involuntary manslaughter. He has been sentenced to 30 years in prison without parole. Pettigrew was given credit for his time in jail.

He originally was charged with murder.

Coraygus Ansonio Hodges of Darlington was shot to death Jan. 24, 2011. Sheriff’s investigators say Pettigrew and Hodges got into an argument after Hodges refused to give Pettigrew’s girlfriend a ride home.

Pettigrew said Thursday he never intended to harm his brother-in-law.
