Fire destroys home, sends two people to hospital

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Columbia Fire officials are trying to determine what caused a single alarm fire Tuesday morning at a home near Fort Jackson. Officials say the call came in around 5:40 a.m. to a home on 6 Foot Point Road, which is off Fort Jackson Boulevard. The home was occupied when the fire broke out, and at least one person from the home had to be sent to the hospital. A firefighter was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. According to the Columbia Fire Department, the second floor roof collapsed as crews worked to control the fire. The home is a total loss.
