Duncan: Romney’s foreign message resonates in SC

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Congressman Jeff Duncan says that, despite some bad publicity, the message Mitt Romney took abroad on his recent European trip resonates with South Carolina voters.

The 3rd District lawmaker spoke with reporters from Washington on Thursday on a range of issues.

Duncan says while the media reported missteps, the Republican presidential candidate’s message to Israel is important to South Carolina voters — that the United States has always stood with Israel and will in the future.

Duncan said Romney questioning whether London was ready for the Olympics was appropriate because Romney managed the Salt Lake City games.

Despite Newt Gingrich’s victory in the South Carolina primary earlier this year, Duncan says Palmetto state Republican voters will now gravitate toward Romney.
