2nd man arrested in Gilbert shooting death

LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina sheriff’s deputies have arrested a second suspect accused of killing a 72-year-old man who had been selling prescription painkillers from his Gilbert home.

Lexington County deputies said Saturday they have arrested 26-year-old Nicholas Williams of Pelion at a motel in Columbia. Deputies had earlier arrested 25-year-old Jeremy Brady.

They are accused of fatally shooting Robert Mitchell Sr. in the chest with a shotgun. Investigators say they went to Mitchell’s home last weekend to rob him of drugs and money.

Authorities say Brady and Williams previously had bought prescription painkillers from Mitchell at his home.

Deputies say a safe taken from Mitchell’s home was found in a car at Brady’s house.
