COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — An autopsy is expected to reveal the cause of death of a Midlands woman whose body was found sprawled on her front lawn in Northeast Columbia Thursday morning. The residents of a normally quiet Northeast Richland County neighborhood got a rude awakening when one neighbor found the dead body of another neighbor in the deceased’s front yard. Folks who live in the 600 block of the Lake Shore subdivision on Herlon Glen Drive in the Northeast are trying to process the death of their newest neighbor. The partially-clothed body of a 26-year-old African American woman, according to authorities, was discovered around 7:00 am on her front lawn, as kids headed back to school. Law enforcement officers are questioning a male acquaintance of the victim but are not calling him a person of interest or a suspect. If foul play is involved, long-time residents tell us it’s not enough to make them change anything about the way they live. “It’s not gonna distract us from doing what we do and how we live, who we are as people,” said one neighbor. A coroner’s report is expected by Friday. If you have any tips to contribute to the investigation, you can call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
