COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Coach Spurrier and the Gamecock Football team are ready to get the 2012 season underway after four weeks of preseason football. The Gamecocks kick off tonight, in Nashville, Tennessee against Vanderbilt University. “They give you four weeks (of practice) now. We all had plenty of time to get ready,” Spurrier said at his weekly press conference. “I’m sure they’re like us and tired of meeting and practicing the same stuff all the time.” Spurrier went on to say he expects Vanderbilt Stadium to be loud, just like most stadiums the team enters. “They’re trying to encourage their fans to pump up the noise some and make it difficult on the opponent. It should be very loud. We’re expecting it to be very loud,” Spurrier said. “We’re expecting it to be loud, and they have a sellout or near-sellout for the game.” However, Spurrier does not expect the noise to disrupt the offense, saying the team doesn‘t use many vocal signals.
