Columbia “Cook Out” Suspect Arrested

The man accused in the Cook Out shooting that happened in Five Points July 21st has been arrested. Billy Jo Downs Jr. (DOB: 1-18-1990) turned himself in Wednesday at the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office. SLED Agents assisted CPD in bringing Downs to Columbia to face charges. Downs was brought to CPD HQ for questioning and was then transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. He is charged with: Attempted Murder, Attempted Armed Robber,y Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Conveyance, and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.
