Ex-coach in sex abuse case in protective custody

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A former Charleston area teacher and coach who pleaded guilty to nearly two dozen child sex charges is being held in protective custody at a state prison in Columbia.

South Carolina prison officials say 33-year-old Louis “Skip” ReVille is being held by himself in a cell for his own safety.

ReVille worked as a summer camp counselor at The Citadel and at other schools, camps, churches and recreation programs. He said at his guilty plea in June that he began assaulting boys in 2002.

ReVille was sentenced to 50 years in prison. He is currently being kept at the Kirkland Correctional Institution, where state prison officials put inmates with special security concerns or are too bad for maximum security facilities.
