One Dead After Late-Night Shooting in Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ Authorities say a 36-year-old man is dead after a late night shooting in Summerville. Summerville police say it happened shortly before midnight Wednesday outside a house in a subdivision. Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet identified the victim as John Elliot Hancock, who was killed as he sat in a car in front of his mother’s house. Authorities say another car pulled up and shots were fired. Hancock tried to run from his car but was shot several times and pronounced dead in the front yard. Witnesses told police a mid-sized sedan either brown or silver in color was seen driving quickly from the area with several people inside.
