COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The 3rd ranked Gamecocks will visit the 9th ranked LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge this Saturday, October 13th at 8 p.m. on ESPN. Here is a quick look at the week ahead and the match-up. South Carolina The Gamecocks are coming off a 35-7 win over the Georgia Bulldogs, giving them a record of 6-0 (4-0 in the SEC). Connor Shaw threw for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns on 6 of 10 passing attempts. Marcus Lattimore is coming off his 11th career 100-yard rushing game with 109 yards and 1 touchdown on 24 carries. USC currently ranks 71st in Passing Yards and 46th in Rushing Yards at 224.7 and 181.5 yards per game respectively; while ranking 33rd in Points For at 36.3 points per game according to ESPN. Which also has the defense ranked at 4th nationally for Points Against at 10.5 points a game. Head Football Coach Steve Spurrier is expected to meet with the media at his weekly press conference today. LSU The Tigers are coming off a tough 14-6 loss against Florida, which gives them a 5-1 record (1-1 in the SEC) coming into the matchup. LSU’s only other SEC game besides Florida was a 12-10 victory over a struggling Auburn team. Last weekend against Florida, the Tigers’ junior quarterback Zach Mettenberger was 11 of 25 for 158 yards with 1 interception. The Tigers only produced 42 rushing yards on 25 carries. The offense had a total of 3 turnovers, the interception as well as 2 fumbles. The Tigers currently rank 100th in Passing Yards and 34th in Rushing Yards at 195.7 and 198.3 yards per game respectively; while ranking 42nd in Points For at 33.5 points per game according to ESPN.
