COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The third ranked Gamecocks head to Death Valley to play the ninth ranked LSU Tigers this Saturday at 8:00 p.m. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN. Here are the numbers on the Tigers. Passing Zach Mettenberger is coming off his worst performance of the year in the Tigers 14-6 loss to Florida last week. Mettenberger has been below 60% completion in his last three games, and only recorded a touchdown in one of those three (2 TDs against FCS oppenent Towson). The junior quarterback has thrown for 1174 yards and 6 touchdowns on 89 completions. He has also thrown 3 interceptions this season while being sacked 15 times. Rushing The Tigers have four backs that have all received 40 carries or more. Kenny Hilliard is the most utilized running back with 58 carries, 382 yards, and 6 touchdowns. Alfred Blue has 40 carries for 270 yards and 2 scores. Michael Ford has 238 yards and 2 TDs on 42 carries. Spencer Ware has rushed the ball 40 times for 185 yards. Defense LSU has 16 sacks and 8 interceptions on the season; as a team they are tied for 17th in the nation for sacks. Lavar Edwards is the teams leader in sacks at 3.5 on the season. The Tigers are ranked 8th in points against allowing 12.8 points per game. Comparing this to the Gamecocks; who have 25 sacks and 8 interceptions through six games and as a team are 2nd in the nation for sacks this season. Sophomore Jadeveon Clowney is USC’s leader in sacks at 6.5. The Gamecocks are ranked 4th in the nation in points against allowing 10.5 points per game.
