COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Tonight at 8 p.m. #3 South Carolina will try to extend the nation’s longest winning streak to 11 games with a win at #9 LSU. The Tigers are coming off a loss last week at Florida. LSU coach Les Miles is a perfect 6-0 at home following a loss. For the first time since 1984, the Gamecocks are ranked inside the top-5 of the polls. After USC’s win over Georgia last Saturday, the Gamecocks climbed up three spots to no. 3 — their highest since the 1984 season when they were ranked 2nd for just a week. With that, comes a lot of national attention for the Gamecocks as one of the country’s best college football teams. This week, another top-10 showdown against no. 9 LSU. “You know, that’s what we all like,” said head coach Steve Spurrier. “It can turn south on you if you don’t watch it. So, we’re just trying to guard against going south and make sure we’re totally ready to play this week.” Saturday, they will look to improve on their 10-game win streak, which is also the longest win streak amongst current FBS teams. But, they will have to do it on the road in a hostile environment at LSU. The Gamecocks have not won in the Bayou since 1994, when USC beat the Tigers by just a point, 18-17. Kickoff for no. 3 USC at no. 9 LSU is set for 8:00PM Saturday night. ESPN will broadcast the game.
