Space Shuttle Takes Final Journey

LOS ANGELES (WOLO) — More than 15 thousand people watched as the Space Shuttle Endeavor made its way through the streets of California over the weekend. The space shuttle was carted off to its new home, a science museum, but the trip wasn’t as easy as anticipated. Organizers say they initially expected the 80-ton space craft would move about 12 miles over two days at 2 miles per hour. That trip ended up taking longer after they realized how massive the shuttle was in comparison to city streets. Organizers say they spent days trying to get around trees, traffic poles, and even some buildings. Still, the slow pace allowed people to come out and watch a piece of history roll by. Residents who have lived in Los Angeles their entire life called the move “breathtaking”. Many say they’ve never seen anything like this before.
