Suspect Injured Following Officer-Involved Shooting

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Columbia that sent one person to the hospital. A spokesperson says the department received a call Monday evening of two armed individuals on Vernon Street near Fairfield Road. Nearby officers immediately responded. One of the suspects allegedly pointed a gun at them. So, investigators say one of the officers fired and hit the suspect. It does not appear to be a life-threatening injury. Both suspects were taken into custody. Their names have not yet been released. The incident remain under investigation.
