Looking Ahead to Tenessee

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The 13th ranked (BCS) Gamecocks will host the Tennessee Volunteers at WIlliams-Brice this Saturday October 27th at noon. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN. Here is a quick look at the week ahead and the match-up. South Carolina The Gamecocks are coming off a 44-11 loss to the Florida Gators, giving them a record of 6-2 (4-2 in the SEC). Connor Shaw and Dylan Thompson both saw time at quarterback; Shaw in the first half and Thompson in the second half. Shaw threw for 72 yards on 9 of 20 passing attempts and Thompson threw for 83 yards and an interception on 8 of 20 passing attempts. Marcus Lattimore only had three carries for 13 yards because of his lower back injury. Lattimore is expected to start this weekend against Tennessee according to Head Football Coach Steve Spurrier. USC currently ranks 86th in Passing Yards and 83rd in Rushing Yards at 210.0 and 144.9 yards per game respectively; while ranking 51st in Points For at 31.3 points per game according to ESPN. Which also has the defense ranked at 15th nationally for Points Against at 16.3 points a game (although allowing 23 and 44 points the last two weeks in losses). Tennessee The Volunteers are coming off a 44-13 loss to Alabama, which gives them a 3-4 record (0-4 in the SEC) coming into the matchup. Last weekend against Alabama, the Volunteers’ junior quarterback Tyler Bray was 13 of 27 for 184 yards with 2 interception. Tennessee’s sophomore running back Marlin Lane had 15 carries for 55 yards on the ground. The Volunteers currently rank 28th in Passing Yards and 57th in Rushing Yards at 285.3 and 168.4 yards per game respectively; while ranking 37th in Points For at 34.4 points per game according to ESPN. Which also has the defense ranked at 99th nationally for Points Against at 33.3 points a game.
