USC Doc: Lattimore Has Ligament Damage, No Fracture

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Sunday night, the University of South Carolina officially confirmed Marcus Lattimore injured several knee ligaments against Tennessee. In a statement, USC said, “Lattimore suffered a significant impact to the front of his right knee during the Tennessee game on Saturday. The ensuing hyperextension of the knee resulted in injury to several ligaments. There were no fractures or additional injuries, according to team physician Dr. Jeffrey Guy. Lattimore’s surgically repaired left knee was uninjured during the play.” Earlier Sunday, Steve Spurrier offered only that Lattimore dislocated his knee and said he would leave the injury details to doctors. Spurrier did say he was optimistic that Lattimore will play again, and offered the idea that the junior could redshirt in 2013 and play his senior season in 2014. According to USC, Lattimore will continue to be evaluated throughout the week and “has already begun the process of prehabilitation prior to surgery and to his eventual return to football.” Lattimore is the all-time leader at USC with 41 career total touchdowns. The Duncan, S.C. native is sixth on the school’s all-time rushing list with 2,677 yards.
