Freddie Grant Back in Court, Trial Delayed

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Elvia Swainson, mother of missing Columbia teenager Gabrielle Swainson, walked into federal court Tuesday silent. She was there for Freddie Grant’s latest hearing on a federal ammuntion charge. Grant is suspected in the disappearance of Swainson’s daughter, Gabbiee, after ductape with Gabbiee’s blood on it was found near Grant’s home, say authorities. During that same time, police say ammunition was also found in Grant’s home. According to state prison records, he served time in the 90’s on a drug charge, making it illegal for him to have ammunition. Tuesday, a judge delayed Grant’s trial until January. Following the hearing, his defense declined comment. Also declining comment, Elvia Swainson. The hearing comes just days before the “A Night of Hope,” event planned in Gabbiee’s honor this Sunday at the Village at Sandhills. This as investigators continue to look for the teenager who hasn’t been seen since vanishing from her Northeast Columbia home in the early morning hours of August 18th. Grant has so far, not been charged in Swainson’s disappearance. A Richland County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson tells ABC Columbia News, they continue to work on the Swainson case on a daily basis.
