Spurrier Jabs Clemson At Lattimore Rally

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Steve Spurrier wanted to deliver the message that Marcus Lattimore plans on coming back to South Carolina to finish his college football career. In the process, Spurrier also delivered a strong message to Clemson. Spurrier was the keynote speaker for a 30-minute celebration in honor of Marcus Lattimore’s 21st birthday at the USC Horseshoe Monday evening. The Ball Coach got the crowd’s attention with his opening remarks. “This is not a memorial service,” Spurrier said. “This is a happy birthday to Marcus and an appreciation for everything he’s done and is going to continue to do for South Carolina.” Spurrier than delivered a message from Lattimore. “The message he gave me was, `I’ll be back,”’ Spurrier said. “So he’s coming back.” Seconds later, Spurrier used his platform to take a shot at Clemson. “A lot of quotes came from across the nation (to wish Lattimore well). I read one today from the head coach at our upstate school. You know, that school that used to beat us a lot that doesn’t beat us much anymore, that one. Anyway, usually when that coach up there talks about South Carolina it’s a bunch of garbage and a bunch of B.S. usually. But I have to agree with him. I have to with him on what he said the other day. He said, ‘Marcus Lattimore stands for what’s right about college football.'”
